Today was the first day of 3rd Grade and what an exciting day it was! We're lucky, because K is still at the age where she looks forward to going back to school...learning new things, seeing all her friends, etc. In fact, last night she declared she was 'too excited to fall asleep' and this morning, she got up 45 minutes earlier than necessary...then proceeded to bug Mom until we left for school...after all, Early Care is okay, especially when Mrs. K runs it ;-).
Over the last week, we finished getting all of her school supplies ready to go. This year, at the "very mature" age of 8, K decided that a non-character backpack was the way to go...so we picked up this really cute Sketchers bag...of course, when Mom came home with the Littlest Pet Shop lunch box, there were no complaints ;-).
Last night, in preparation of the big day, Dad took K for her haircut...after all...gotta look good for the photos Mom was most definitely going to be taking today...because of the 'so soft' new haircut, K opted for no hair accessories today...
Before leaving, we took our annual shot outside...same place every year, first and last days of school...
Yeah, the uniform dress is a little big -- she's just so hard to buy clothes for, being the peanut that she is. One size is too short, the next too long. Fun!!!
Like the shoes? This is the first year she's picked out (and Mom agreed) on a pair of shoes that are not in the Mary-Jane-with-straps-won't-fall-off style -- LOL. Although...these are a little bigger, so we're going to be going to get a second pair of shoes this weekend to alternate, so maybe Mom will get her wish...after all, I don't want my baby growing up too fast!!!
At school, we took a quick photo in her new classroom -- very cool!!
Look!! Would you believe they got goodie bags? How's that for a whole lot of fun?? Inside, I guess, was a bookmark, popcorn, etc...I'll get to see the bag later when she comes inside (she's playing with a neighbor).
All in all, K declared today "very exciting." Not a lot of learning yet (after all, it was the first day), but fun getting to understand what she will be learning. She has two new students in her class and one student returning who'd been in her 1st Grade class, but didn't attend SCS last year. A few girls didn't return this year and they will be missed.
After school, K had her annual check-up. Yes, what was I thinking?? I hadn't realized that I scheduled it on the first day of school.
Health-wise, she's great...her latest stats...keeping her in the 5-10% in both height and weight...are...
- Height 46 1/2 inches
- Weight 44 Lbs.
As I said...she's a peanut...
We ended the day at the library and had McD's for the back to school dinner...just me and K...Dad's fending for himself tonight ;-).
We've got some homework to do it a bit...a little 'all about me' type project due on Friday...and then...we'll get her settled for the night to prepare for another exciting day tomorrow...
Until then...good night, God Bless...and keep those cameras clicking!!!
